Xavier Scruggs

It is an exciting time to be a part of the Cup Check Team! Why? Because over the next several days we will be unveiling the team and their inaugural posts…..without further adieu…Introducing the next member of the Cup Check Team (drum roll pllllleeeeaaassseee!)…

Xavier Scruggs!!!

QUICK FACTS

Hometown: I’m originally from San Diego, California and went to high school at Poway High School

Education: UNLV Rebels

I recently finished my first full season in AA for the Springfield Cardinals. Might I add we won the Texas League Championship and were named Baseball America’s Minor League Team of the Year. That’s all besides the point…

I’ve thought long and hard (keep your mind out of the gutter) about what I’ve wanted my first article on this site to be about. Quite frankly I haven’t been able to come up with anything. Some may refer to this as “writers block”. However us ball players would refer to this as “winging it” or “rolling with the punches” or quite simply a normal day in the world of a ball player. What I mean by this is that in our sport we never know the exact outcome or result that is going to happen. No matter what happens we still have to “make adjustments”, “battle”, and “win it”. I only put these phrases in quotations because they are the same phrases we hear day in and day out on the field. In my opinion they are overused and I’m so over hearing them. No matter how tired we may get of hearing those phrases repeatedly yelled in our direction on the field, they are just as relevant off the field….read on in my first post…“Rolling With the Punches.”
